The importance of Spelling

Poor spelling as with bad writing, can give a negative impression of the pupil’s standard of work.

Spelling cannot be flexible as many words change meaning if a letter is omitted or transposed

It is not wise to rely on the spell-checker alone as it cannot differentiate between

two words which are spelt correctly, e.g. ‘does’ and ‘dose’ but have two  different meanings.

There are many helpful rules for spelling e.g, ‘se’ for verbs and ‘ce’ for nouns (you advise with advice).

And many helpful spelling tips e.g, no word in English ends in ‘full’ except full, thankful, grateful and spoonful are all spelt with one ‘l'.
